Self-portrait as a Dog

Pigment print mounted on Dibond (150 x 220 cm), pigment print mounted on Dibond (100 x 150 cm), 2019.
Self-portrait as a Dog is a diptych that consists of the images:
Portrait of my Imaginary Dog
Self-portrait as a Dog (pastiche after the painting “Den trogna hunden på Maria kyrkogård” by Carl Stefan Bennet)
The work focuses on the theme of identification and asks what happens when the artist is portrayed as a dog and the humanisation of the dog is reversed? Who will identify with whom and why?
The work Self-portrait as a dog was debuted in September 2019 in Kuopio Art Museum, Finland as part of the first M_itä? Biennale of Contemporary Art.
